Beloved of Christ Jesus, God’s Word says in
Psalm 16:11; “You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Joy is one of the nine fruits of the Spirit (Galatans 5:22-23). The word ‘joy’ in Greek is chara which mean overflowing joy; joy that comes from being with God. This joy is given by God to believers through the involvement of the Holy Spirit in them. Like all the other fruits of the Spirit, joy is not something that we can produce by ourselves, but it is a result when we cling to God as the Vine. And, the joy of the Lord is obviously different from the joy offered by the world. As believers, we should not have joy which based or depending on situaton or circumstances. The Apostle Paul advises, “Rejoice in the Lord always! Again I will say, rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4). Here, Paul was not just talk because at the tme he wrote the leter to the Philippians he was really in a bad conditon because he was in prison. However, this unpleasant situaton does not make him loss his joy. Therefore, beloved of Christ Jesus, let us not make situaton as an excuse not to rejoice because our joy as believer does not depend on thing that comes out of this world. “The righteous will rejoice in the Lord and trust in him.” (Psalm 64:1) May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you, Amen!
